U.S. ARMY CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION LABORATORY (USACIL)

MAJOR DUTIES 

Responsible for:
¾    
mentoring, leading, directing and managing subordinate examiners
¾    
technical oversight and daily staff assignments
¾    
establishing Branch examination protocols
¾    
overseeing scientific equipment purchases
¾    
ensuring appropriate on-going professional staff development
¾    
maintaining and supporting quality processes to comply with and maintain 17025 accreditation 

Salary Information
$101,035 - $131,343 per annum  (GS-1397-14)
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized

ICAS Comparative Analysis Forensics SME

Job Summary:


The Comparative Analysis Forensics SME shall advise, mentor and provide technical assistance to the Iraqi Police comparative lab personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

·  Assisting in the development and adherence to internationally accepted legal systems of forensic investigations related to evidence comparison techniques, methods, records, accountability, and court room presentation.

Job Requirements 

Knowledge & Skills:

·  Superior negotiation and interpersonal skills.

·  Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

·  Appreciation for and sensitivity to cultural differences.

·  A team-oriented view of working with others.

·  Ability to adapt to adverse working conditions in a post-conflict environment.

·  Ability to attain a class one medical clearance.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

·  Knowledge of police development in an international environment; experience working overseas in a post-conflict environment.

·  An undergraduate (associates or bachelors) degree in public administration, police administration, police science, business administration, or an equivalent field from an accredited academic institution.

·  Familiarity with Iraqi history, culture, institutions and structures and the Iraqi legal system.

Requirements:

·  7 or more years in a Federal, State or Local criminal justice agency with progressively responsible experience in a comparative forensics discipline such as comparative experience with fingerprints (latent vs. ten print) or ballistics/tool marks or documents or handwriting and/or other contemporary forensic comparatives.

·  Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

·  Ability to perform key responsibilities under conditions which may include: limited supervision and resources, personal security risks, conflicting and changing priorities, primitive life support (lodging, food, and HVAC), language barriers, transportation limitations, disease, etc.
